Our skin is just like a babies butt, sensitive and delicate. If we do not take proper care of it, we will get rashes. With the new healthy-living hype going around, I am quite sure the importance of skin care has been drilled into your brain. Taking care of your skin is like exercising, eating a balanced diet, or even caring of your hair. However, with so many skincare brands constantly improving and releasing new products, it can become difficult to differentiate between a holy-grail product and an overly-hyped product.
Everyone has a different skin-type (oily, dry, normal, combination) with different concerns (acne, ageing, hyper pigmentation, sensitivity, loss of firmness, etc…). The list is endless. When it comes down to the skincare routine, there is definetly going to be a huge variety, depending on your goal and skin type.
However, there are a few things that everyone, should do for their skin on a daily basis, regardless of age or skin type. When talking about your skin, it does not refer to your face, but head to toe.
1. Drink Water
Hydrating your skin is probably the most important thing you need to be worried about, as drinking water makes a significant difference to skin health.
There are different cleansers which you can use, depending on your skin goal and skin type. Whether you use acne cleanser, or any other kinds, it is important you cleanse your face at least once a day to get rid of dirt.
3. Moisturize: Day & Night
Going back to hydration – drinking water is not the only factor to keep your skin hydrated. You need to moisturize your skin day and night
4. Protection: Sunscreen
Sun protection is important for various reasons (ageing, skin cancer, hydration, and etc.) Sunscreen is not only important for your face, but is important for your whole body. If your laying under the sun it is necessary to apply it all over your body, however if you are just going out, then it is important to apply it on your face and neck, as well as the backs of your hands as they are very sensitive.
5. Always Remove Make Up
DO NOT sleep in your make up, as it is one of the most common way to suffer from acne.
6. Eat Your Omega-3’s
Healthy omega-3 fats can be found in Salmon, which can boost collagen production, reduce inflammation, as well as help your skin to glow. However, if you are a vegetarian like me, then nuts and flaxseeds will do.
Over the past year, my skin has improved manifolds. As you can see in the picture above, I have no makeup on, except for lipstick (I’m addicted lol). Despite late nights and tiring days, I TRY to give my 100%, on a daily, to my skin. We may see slight improvements today, but with a good skincare regiment, approximately a year down the line, we will not have to be wasting money on botox.
